I received Dr. Dobson's monthly newsletter this week. In it he includes an article he was asked to write for Time magazine. He was asked by Time to respond to Mary Cheney and her partner's decision to have artifical insemination done to be able to have a child.
He received, of course, both positive feedback and "howls of protest."
A few interesting quotes:
"With all due respect to Cheney and her partner, Heather Poe, the preponderance of more than 30 years of social-science evidence indicates that children do best on every measure of well-being when raised by their married mother and father."
"...mothers tend to stress sympathy, grace and care to their children, while father accent justice, fairness and duty."
"Isn't there something in our hearths that tells us, intuitively, that children need a mother and a father? Admittedly, that ideal is not always possible."
"In raising these issues, Focus on the Family does not desire to harm or insult women. Rather, our conviction is that birth and adoption are the purview of married heterosexual couples....That's why public policy as it relates to families must be based not solely on the desires of adults but rather on the needs of children and what is best for society at large."
Amen and Amen! And boy does PC ideology give staunch support to same-sex marriage AND the trend that will quickly follow: children to these partnerships. May we be alert and active in preservering our CHILDREN in giving them the "optimum family structure" as much as humanely possible. God, help us have strong marriages and strong testimonies.

Thanks for the excerpts. I've always thought of you and us as the OPTIMUM FAMILY STRUCTURE for me.
